slamabad, 7 October 2026 — Mir Naveed Kalmati, President of the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce & Industry (GCCI), along with Engineer Hameed Baloch, met with Jam Kamal Khan , Federal Minister for Commerce, at the Ministry of Commerce to discuss the operationalization of Gwadar Port and the promotion of regional trade and economic connectivity.
During the meeting, the GCCI delegation urged the Ministry of Commerce to take concrete and practical steps to ensure the effective operationalization of Gwadar Port and to unlock its potential as a major hub for trade, investment, and regional economic development.
The delegation particularly emphasized the importance of activating the Gwadar Corridor at *Border 250 (Gabd)*, a strategic trade route offering connectivity with Central Asia. They stressed the need to establish an effective and integrated trade link between the border corridor and Gwadar Port to facilitate the smooth movement of goods, strengthen cross-border trade, and enhance regional connectivity.
The delegation highlighted that improved coordination between Gwadar Port and the Border 250 trade route could create new opportunities for the business community, promote exports, reduce trade barriers, and contribute to the economic development of Gwadar and Balochistan.
The meeting underscored the importance of close cooperation between the Ministry of Commerce and the Gwadar Chamber of Commerce & Industry to address trade-related challenges and transform Gwadar's strategic geographical position into tangible economic benefits for Pakistan.
